There are lots of ways you can help to support our important work and outreach, from donations to using Amazon Smile (at no cost to you!), from volunteering your time or services for an event to writing for our blog or working with us to arrange a talk or educational outreach event. Even just the simple act of visibly following us on social media can help to spread the word and through your support help to increase LGBTQ+ visibility in Ely.

Other Ways To Support Us
There are lots of ways to volunteer to support Pride in Ely. We aim to plan a diverse range of activities from our Pride Day itself to quizzes and other social activities, educational talks and outreach to Ely Queer Cinema Festival. Whilst things are very uncertain at the moment during the Covid-19 pandemic, we’d still love to hear from you if you’d like to volunteer with us at future events.Â

There are lots of opportunities to sponsor us or an aspect of our work. On Pride Day itself we are always looking for main event sponsors, however you could also sponsor in other ways such as paying the cost of a stall for an LGBTQ+ charity. If you have an idea about something you’d like to sponsor then please get in touch so that we can discuss your ideas and find the best fit.Â
We also organise other events throughout the year from social events (quizzes, bingo and so on) to educational events and our upcoming Queer Film Festival. If you would like to sponsor one of these or even suggest your own activity that you’d like to organise as a sponsor yourself, please get in touch as we’d love to explore options with you.
A great way to help us is to follow us on social media, subscribe to receive our notifications and like and share our news and event posts to all of your friends, family and followers. One of the most important aspects of our work is reaching out to people and building a stronger community of LGBTQ+ people and allies. By sharing our posts and subscribing to our feeds, you’ll help us to spread the word more easily and reduce the amount of paid-for promotion such as flier printing we need.Another really important benefit of sharing and following us on social media is that it shows people you know that you support LGBTQ+ issues and rights and the sheer visibility has a “usualising” effect, helping to reduce the fear and stigma which can often lead to homophobia and other unpleasant behaviours in society. The simple act of sharing could change someone’s mind and open their heart to people they may once have feared or avoided, which can only be a good thing!
If you have an LGBTQ+ themed subject you’d like to write about on our new website, we’re looking for guest authors. Topics could range from more serious issues such as the modern reversal and erosion of LGBTQ+ rights to more light-hearted pieces, for example a look at one of the many groups/individuals around the world who are using the unlikely art form of drag to break down barriers between LGBTQ+ people and the wider community. If you have something you’d like to contribute, get in touch and pitch your idea to us, we’d be delighted to host your writing!As an organisation we’ve decided that educational events, speakers, lectures and Q&A sessions would be very beneficial for both the LGBTQ+ community and the wider community in Ely and the surrounding area. If you have a special interest or expertise in a relevant field or area of LGBTQ+ rights, culture or issues then please do get in touch to discuss your idea with us.
We’re working hard to set up a brand new on-line shop which will stock exclusive Pride in Ely merchandise from coffee cups to umbrellas, t-shirts and other clothing items, along with Pride themed and seasonal gifts. We’re also looking to work with local artists to offer exclusive lines of Pride in Ely and Pride-themed jewellery, craft & other cool merch.
